A Nordic love story. A heathen Ring. A fall of a nation
The year is 1520, and young Luzie is playing with her new friend by the edge of the sea. She has no idea of the bloody drama that is about to break out in the neighbouring country, or of the momentous events which will have life-changing consequences for herself, her powerful mother, the Lady Inger of Austrått, and for all the Nordic countries.
Nor does she know that she herself is destined to play a leading role in the most dramatic love story in the history of the North.
Least of all, she knows about her own pagan origins, and the demanding mission that awaits her as the fourth daughter of Freya. A mission that will devour her life.Ingress for siden her
Freydis is the first book in the standalone Series «Daughters of Freya» which will be a total of seven books – all Epic Tales inspired by true events in Nordic history.
Really enjoyed reading this book. The history of these strong women intertwined with Nordic history reflects the strength and ingenuity of women. Also how wealth and power plays an important role in determining both the religion and politics of the time- so it continues to present day.»Â
I read the series of 4 books in order and enjoyed each one. Powerful main characters who captivate the reader. The adventures and plots are very enjoyable to read.
I hope the series will continue and have signed up for the author’s newsletter»
I have now read all four of novels in the Daughters of Freyja series. Each one has been wonderful as each novel covers a different period of Norse history.
I love the writing and the story lines.»
I cannot foresee where this will end up. In modern times? In the future? How will the world be saved? From what? I can’t wait to find out.»
I enjoyed reading this book and spent a pleasant evening immersed in a Nordic tale. I would like to read more by this author.»
An Epic Nordic Novel is the fourth book in the Daughters of Freya books by Gunhild Haugnes. I have enjoyed each of these books but found the wind-wild Luzie to be extra special. As is Ms. Haugnes style the prologue is more of a mystery that grabs your attention. At least it always does mine, causing me to jump right into reading, not wanting to stop even when there are other activities needing to be done..»
